The Only Hottest 100 That Matters Crowns Australia’s Best Craft Beer

• The Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) Hottest 100 has once again ranked Mountain Culture Status Quo #1 for 2024.
• A total of 1,500 beers from 400 domestic breweries were submitted for consideration in the annual competition’s 17th edition, with 55,000 beer lovers casting their votes.
• 2024 marks the third year in a row that Mountain Culture Status Quo has earned the title of best beer via GABS Hottest 100.

For the third consecutive year, Mountain Culture Status Quo has been named Australia’s king of craft beers by the GABS Hottest 100 (2024).

The beloved pale ale prevailed after a hard-fought battle against close to 1,500 delicious tinnies from 400 homegrown craft breweries making an impact on the local landscape; securing the necessary favour of around 55,000 eager voters who registered to have their say this year.

“The fans have spoken and it’s no surprise Mountain Culture has taken the top spot as Australia’s most loved craft brew,” said Mia Horner, Coles Liquor General Manager of Customer Loyalty.

“Known for its juicy smooth and very easy drinking style, the Status Quo is an easy-drinking craft beer, making it a delicious option year-round.”

It’s certainly been a year to remember for Mountain Culture.

Three-peat aside, which has only been accomplished once before by Feral’s Hop Hog (2012-2014), the Blue Mountains-based brewery recently announced it has a key investor in Aussie hero and global cricketing sensation: Pat Cummins. Mountain Culture’s production facilities have also expanded.

Status Quo was followed closely by Coopers Brewery’s Original Pale Ale (+5 ranks), Balter Brewing’s Balter XPA (-1 ranks), BentSpoke Brewing Co’s Crankshaft (-1 ranks), Gage Roads Brewing Co’s Single Fin Summer Ale (+1 ranks), Range Brewing’s Disco (+10 ranks), Your Mates Brewing Co’s Larry (-3 ranks), Philter Brewing’s XPA (+3 ranks), 4 Pines Brewing Company’s breakout Japanese Lager (+64 ranks), and rounding out the Top 10, On Drop Brewing Co’s We Jammin’ (+30 ranks).
