1920’s Parisian-style Cocktail Bar ‘Little Felix’ Opens In Sydney’s CBD

The success of Merivale’s classic French-themed restaurant Felix has led to the opening of Little Felix, a 1920’s-era cocktail bar right next door in Sydney’s CBD. Resembling the iconic French bars once visited by famous writers such as Ernest Hemingway and Zelda Fitzgerald, Little Felix offers a taste of the Parisian lifestyle on Ash Street.

The bar staff are the best of the best, handpicked for their knowledge and expertise across the Merivale portfolio. Together they’ve created eight specialty cocktails named after early 20th-century Parisian hotels that are served only at Little Felix. Each tipple is inspired by a classic cocktail and reimagined for today’s discerning drinker.

“The ‘French 75’, for example, is a classic cocktail of gin, citrus and champagne,” explains bar manager Sam Egerton. “At Little Felix, we’ve used Chandon Blanc de Blancs and Farigoule de Forcalquier, a thyme liqueur, and called it ‘Paris Meridian’ after the line that ran through the Paris Observatory. Our ‘Sidecar’, a cocktail that is said to have been invented for an American army captain and first made at The Ritz Hotel, uses Hennessy VS, Cointreau, lemon juice, Le Birlou.”

Along with a delicious selection of cocktails, you can order from a custom-built champagne fridge adjacent to the bar that houses the best from France and the world. Complementing the wine list is a simple yet enticing menu of charcuterie, cheese and tartines curated by head chef Nathan Johnson.

The creation of Little Felix is a collaboration between leading design firm ACME and stylist Amanda Talbot, with the Parisian haunt the first of four new bars and eateries to open in the ivy laneways this year as part of newly crowned billionaire Justin Hemmes’ vision to help revitalise Sydney’s nightlife.
