Just because LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players of all time doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to have a good time, which is evidenced by his passion for good wine. Lebron has put this passion to good use, working with the luxury luggage maker RIMOWA to create a 12-bottle wine case so the next time you enjoy a holiday, you can bring a dozen of your favourite vintages with you.

It might sound unlikely, but despite being a 37-year-old veteran of the NBA with no less than 19 seasons under his belt, Lebon has a well-documented love of wine and tequila. Dwyane Wade described LeBron as having a “supercomputer in his brain when it comes to wine,” with some of his favourite wines coming from the heart of Bordeaux.

“I’ve heard it’s good for the heart,” James said in an interview with ESPN. “Listen, I’m playing the best basketball of my life, and I’m drinking some wine pretty much every day. Whatever it is, I’ll take it.”

Thanks to his strong relationship with RIMOWA and the Arnault family that owns it as a part of LVMH, Lebron was inspired by an archival design of a suitcase that transported wine and glassware for the creation of this new wine case. Boasting a comfortable leather handle and a body created from the brand’s signature anodized grooved aluminium, the wine case features custom-made cushions and laser cutouts to hold a range of different bottle shapes, including for champagne and red wine bottles.

The LeBron James-designed wine case will be released from RIMOWA in the coming months, arriving with an RRP of US$9,900 (AU$15,876). If you’ve always wanted to travel with a special selection from your cellar, now’s your chance to make it happen.
