A year after taking Australia by storm with -196 Double Lemon, something that’d previously only existed within a “in you know, you know” kind of space for hard-partying foreigners visiting Japan, Strong Zero has unveiled the second domestically available -196 flavour: Double Grape.
Packing a healthy 6% ABV in each can, Strong Zero -196 Double Grape leverages the same signature Freeze Crush Infusion Technology as its lemony counterpart. For the uninitiated, this involves taking whole grapes frozen in liquid nitrogen at the eponymous temperature, pulverizing them, before soaking the lot in both shochu and vodka.
The result? An extreme, fresh-flavoured ‘n’ fruity drink topped with refreshing soda water that contains just 112 calories per can, zero grams of sugar, and zero compromise on taste/overall sipping experience. In other words, it’s very good value in terms of the staying-slim-on-the-terps to sesh fuel ratio.

“The launch of -196 Double Lemon was last year’s most successful premix launch in Australia and we know this new flavour is going to excite both those familiar with the original brand in Japan as well as our new local -196 fans,” said Trent Chapman, Beam Suntory Marketing Director.
“Grabbing a pack of -196 Double Grape should feel like you’re reaching straight into the fridge of a convenience store in Tokyo. Unmistakably Japanese, we can’t wait for this next-level refreshment to hit Aussie shelves.”
Strong Zero -196 Double Grape is set to hit the shelves of all major retailers here in Australia from late October 2022. The price? Similar to the -196 Double Lemon, $23 for a four-pack and $49 for a 10-pack.
