Some of Melbourne’s best restaurants soar high above the CBD. The legendary Vue du Monde is on the 55th floor of the Rialto Tower, the Arbory Float team are getting by just fine with the multifaceted Her, and now The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne is hoping to add its own slice of swanky sky-high dining with Atria Melbourne.

When Atria, located on the 80th floor of the luxury hotel, is revealed to the public on Thursday 23 March, it will be the first big restaurant opening to hit Melbourne in 2023. And there’s no shortage of anticipation here, with the considerably well-connected hotel brand securing Executive Chef Michael Greenlaw, who joins the kitchen with 15 years of five-star hotels and various Michelin stars on his resume. The former Vue du Monde chef will be heading up the hotel’s several dining experiences, which also includes an intimate cocktail and wine bar named Cameo.

Named for the brightest star in the southern constellation – Triangulum Australe – Atira Melbourne doesn’t sound like it breaks any new ground in terms of design, but rather settles in nicely as one of those super polished five-star dining experiences you’d often find in hotels around cities like Tokyo and New York.

Greenlaw will work with Culinary Advisor Mark Best to put together a menu moulded after local and native produce sourced from small-scale growers. Given Greenlaw is apparently a keen diver, we’re expecting a lot of fresh seafood to also be on offer alongside prized ingredients like Blackmore Wagyu from Victorian High Country and Oak Hill truffles from the Central Highlights.

Considering the high standard of culinary excellence The Ritz-Carlton brand is known for, there’s little doubt Atria Melbourne will be worth a booking when it opens in late March.
