One of the most renowned restaurants in the world, the three-Michelin-star Eleven Madison Park in New York City, is coming to Sydney for a two-week residency at Aria in Circular Quay.

There’s plenty on in the harbour city for Vivid Sydney this year but one particular first for the event will be ‘Vivid Food,’ a new pillar for the world-renowned festival of lights, music and ideas. At first, it seemed like a tempting tack-on just to reiterate that there will be more than just food trucks running the horseshoe of Circular Quay.

Now it appears Vivid Food is a big deal, spurring a bunch of exclusive dinners and food festivals, including one curated by Mary’s Underground, a massive dinner at ivy ballroom and a chef’s series where international chefs from the likes of South Africa and Singapore will take over some of the city’s best kitchens.

But it’s this that has understandably hogged all the attention thus far. The Vivid Residence will feature Eleven Madison Park owner and chef Daniel Humm and his team taking over Matt Moran’s Aria to mirror what has made the New York eatery such an icon of the culinary arts. The name is a constant presence on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list and the kitchen’s innovative plant-based cuisine has gone on to influence restaurants the world over.

Humm’s plant-based cooking will use NSW produce on two different menus during the residence, which runs from June 6 to June 17. Fork out $550 (per person) and you’ll get a nine-course dinner tasting menu featuring Eleven Madison Park’s best dishes. Dial that back to $395pp and you’ve got a shorter lunch menu. Both will be offered alongside pairing options while of course, you’ll also get the benefit of that magnificent Sydney Harbour view, especially if it’s at night and Vivid is in full effect.

Eleven Madison Park’s arrival in Sydney is another feather in the cap for the harbour city’s alluring pop-up dining scene. We already know three-Michelin-starred restaurant L’Enclume will temporarily take over Bathers Pavilion in July while Gordon Ramsay is also here for three nights next month with Restaurant Gordon Ramsay also taking over Aria Sydney.

All tickets to the Eleven Madison Park Sydney pop-up, which runs from June 6 – June 17, 2023, go on sale from Friday, April 28.
