Gelato Messina is popular enough in Australia that it seems, outside of limited edition flavours and cross-brand collaborations, there’s not much left for the gelato kings to conquer. Yet, the beloved dessert brand has just taken one of its biggest steps in years, opening a new Marrickville HQ with the most comprehensive selection of everything Messina one could ask for.

Reportedly in the works for the past two years, the Messina Marrickville HQ is located on the corner of Victoria Road and Rich Street, taking stock of 40 gelato flavours including 35 signatures and a rotating selection of limited-edition scoops.

So far that just means a really big Messina store but there’s also a range of gelato cakes, cookie pies, thickshakes, merch and a new menu of take-home desserts like Bavarian cream pie and other treats inspired by classics like Iced Vovo and lemon meringue. Also on the cards is a Messina chocolate shop with bars and blocks using single-origin cocoa and cocoa butter sourced from Ecuador and Peru.

Floor-to-ceiling glass has been installed so anyone heading along to the Messina Marrickville HQ can take a peek at the Wonka-esque production facility which is the first chance we have to see what goes on behind the scenes of Messina’s pervasive success.
