On the off-chance you’re headed to London later this year – and hankering to indulge in some next-level retail therapy – then a visit to Harrods, the iconic Knightsbridge department store, comes highly recommended.
Beyond its already staggering array of dining, wellness and personal shopping experiences, Britain’s best-known luxury retailer has just unveiled a new partnership with Italian fashion house Prada; with the two staging a pop-up restaurant on the store’s ground floor that will be open to the public for breakfast, lunch, coffee, and cocktails through 2023.

Intended as an homage to the “first historic Prada boutique” located in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, the new Prada Cafe is swathed in a pale, minty shade of green; with a checkerboard pattern in black and white marble underfoot, to evoke the imagery of the brand’s popular ‘Symbole’ collection.
No strangers to the art of dining, Prada has opted to populate this new pop-up cafe (which joins the Wes Anderson-designed Bar Luce in Milan) with Japanese celadon pottery, silver-plated cutlery and handblown glassware that has been detailed with the brand’s “unmistakable triangle pattern”.
As for what hungry shoppers will be ordering at this new Prada cafe? In line with the brand’s existing affinity for all things sweet and delectable (it has owned famed Milanese pasticceria Marchesi since 2014) there will be a range of small Italian morsels available throughout the day: including pralines, dough laminates and the delightful cut-crust lunchtime staple known as tramezzini.
Those in the mood to while away an entire afternoon at Harrods also have the option of ordering from a more substantial lunchtime menu: served, quixotically, until 9pm and populated by classic pasta and antipasti courses. And should the mood take you – there are even a good half-dozen signature cocktails to choose from, made with the best aperitifs and small-batch spirits that Italy has to showcase.
Bookings can now be made online through Harrods.
