Given the global wellness market is said to be valued at over $5.6 trillion, it’s clear that the same crowd that prides themselves on being “busy” are now realising being busy ain’t much use if you’re broken.

The good news? We’re living in a time where health, wellness, and recovery facilities can be found in major cities aplenty — meaning prioritising numero uno has never been easier.

Whether you’re at an age where it’s time to double down on maintenance, or you’re at an age where burnout hasn’t been ingrained in you from day dot; when it comes to your physical and mental health, you’re always at an age where it’s time to start taking this seriously.

We’ve rounded up the five best wellness and recovery spots in Melbourne for you to dip a toe in and unwind. Check it out below.

P3: Port Melbourne

A post shared by P3 Recovery (@p3recovery_hq)

Ice baths, infrared saunas, IV therapy, breathwork… Just some of the latest wellness therapies that happen to be housed inside the multiple P3 Recovery centres emerging on the wellness scene across Victoria (and beyond).

A franchise that’s backed by elite sportspeople but with an ethos of inclusivity, P3 caters to pretty much everyone with compression therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and contrast therapy (in addition to the aforementioned).

Port Melbourne has only just opened its doors with Geelong, Bendigo, Ferntree Gully, and Hampton East soon to follow.

Address: 292 Bay St, Port Melbourne VIC 3207
Contact: 0481 607 381
Opening Hours: Monday — Friday (6 AM — 9 PM); Saturday — Sunday (8 AM — 4 PM)

Inner Studio (Collingwood)

Though its targeted breathwork classes and hot/cold facilities are as serious as sports recovery can get, the abundance of greenery and natural light give Inner Studio a spiritual kick, too.

Aside from the daily yoga, meditation, movement, and breathwork classes, here you’ll find hot and cold pools, as well as a communal hangout area all in the one room.

And with a capacity of no more than 20 people at any given time, there’s no awkward waiting around or invasion of personal space when it comes to sitting in their massive Scandi sauna; or their cold plunge that sits at a tepid 5°C year-round.

Address: Warehouse 9/5-11 Campbell St, Collingwood VIC 3066
Contact: (03) 9598 1263
Opening Hours: Monday — Sunday (6 AM — 9 PM)

Saint Haven (Collingwood; also Toorak & South Yarra)

Without a doubt the most hyped private wellness club in Melbourne, Saint Haven is a members-only offering that covers pretty much every corner of your health journey.

From Pilates to Pelotons, blood tests to ice baths, hyperbaric chambers to digestive tonics, Saint Haven may seem OTT (borderline Eyes Wide Shut vibe, even) to many.

But considering memberships are available from $500 per month, if you’re visiting a couple of times a week with an all-encompassing restorative health point-of-view, there’s a good chance you’ll get your money’s worth, tenfold.

Address: 23 Wellington St, Collingwood VIC 3066
Contact: (03) 8203 2298
Opening Hours: Monday — Friday (5:30 AM — 9 PM); Saturday (7 AM — 7 PM); Sunday (8 AM — 6 PM)

Sano (Kew)

If fewer people and fewer distractions are more your cup of tea, Sano recovery might be the perfect spot for you.

Located on Level 3 above Kew’s bustling High St, Sano caters more to the corporate punters, who are afforded private access to its small yet extremely well fit-out facility for training and recovery days, team building (peep the boardroom), plus urban retreats.

With an off site program that targets thousands of those toughing it out in the mining industry, these guys certainly know a thing or two about tackling the minds and bodies of those who’ve been through the ringer.

Address: Level 3/232 High St, Kew VIC 3101
Contact: Form
Opening Hours: Monday — Friday (9 AM — 5 PM)

Nimbus Co (Richmond)

The OG Infrared sauna studio in Australia, Nimbus is the place to go when you’re not in the mood for full immersion — when you just want to get in, listen to whatever you want to listen to, and get out.

Nothing fancy aside from a nicely designed front office and retail offering; as well as state-of-the-art saunas for two (if you want to bring a friend) and ice baths (for one) at a borderline unbearable 5°C-9°C.

Free of distraction, there’s no wasting time: just an opportunity to sharpen your mental focus and aid your physical recovery.

Address: 261 Lennox St, Richmond VIC 3121
Contact: 0459 945 056
Opening Hours: Monday — Friday (10 AM — 9:30 PM); Saturday — Sunday (8 AM — 8 PM)
