Every week, Boss Hunting’s editors spend far too much time scouring the web: in search of the coolest gear, food & drink, and destinations worth trekking to across the globe.

In our latest edition of â€˜Good Finds’, we’ve got the first shaped watch from cult label Serica, a suit bag that will sort you out through long weekends, destination-inspired fragrances by Memo Paris, and much more.

Jacques Solovière ‘Matt’ Derbies

Good Finds

This week’s footwear recommendation, co-signed by my colleague Andrew, comes to us from Parisian label Jacques Solovière.

The brand has been a favourite among fashion insiders for a few years now, and is best-known for its timeless unisex styles, crafted with a single piece of leather — much like these ‘Matt’ lace-ups.

Memo Winter Palace Eau De Parfum

Memo Winter Palace

I’ve always fancied myself the sort of shopper who’s more interested in the contents of an object rather than its packaging. So, naturally, it’s doubly hilarious that my first genuine awareness of Memo came after the brand’s elaborately illustrated ‘Winter Palace’ scent caught my eye.

The branding is hardly, shall we say subtle, but as it turns out, the elaborate dragon motif and vague liner notes about “the Great Wall of China” belie an EDP that is actually complex and difficult to pigeonhole.

Somewhere between an amber and floral citrus in style, expect whiffs of grapefruit, red tea, camphor, and tolu balsam. Underneath all that? An omnipresent, faintly sweet accord of benzoin.

Morrison’s $24 ‘Happy Meal’, Sydney

Good Finds

Given that we’re in that part of the year when most people’s wallets are held hostage to the demands of pre-holiday socializing and constant Christmas gifting, Morrison’s newest dining promo is good news indeed.

Every day from 11:30 AM onwards, the American tavern-inspired specialists in grilled meat and fresh oysters will be serving a ‘Happy Meal’ of dry Martinis and thin-cut fries — garnished with a ramekin of the most delicious homemade ketchup I’ve certainly had the pleasure of sampling in the Sydney CBD.

Serica Reference 1174 ‘Parade’

Serica 1174

As my colleagues James and Nick Kenyon will be the first to tell you: it’s always a good day when a new Serica release drops. This week, the acclaimed French indie label announced its Reference 1174 — its first attempt at a legit dress watch.

Traveling in the footsteps of watches like the Cartier Baignoire, or even Anoma’s semi-affordable A1, the 1174 employs a stadium-esque case shape and wavy, S-shape guilloché. The latter detail comes alive especially vividly in the ‘brass’ model.

Preorders are currently open, with delivery expected to follow in late March 2025.

P Johnson Suit Travel Bag

Good Finds

Clearly inspired by P Johnson’s best-selling canvas tote — I’ve had mine for close to three years and am thoroughly enjoying it — this straightforwardly named ‘Suit Travel’ bag is a great way to transport delicate tailoring from point A to point B. Or, fulfil the role of an ad hoc weekender.

My favourite detail is the width and depth on all four internal pockets: sized so that, with a bit of strategic placement, you can essentially fit everything you need for an entire outfit into the one carrier.
