Every week, Boss Hunting’s editors spend far too much time scouring the web: in search of the coolest gear, food & drink, and destinations worth trekking to across the globe.

In our latest edition of ‘Good Finds’, we’ve got leather goods from Ferragamo, vegan shampoo from a local Brissy-based brand, and more.

The Cut Bar & Grill Returns To Sydney

Good Finds

In Sydney (never mind Australia in general), steakhouses are a dime-a-dozen affair. Yet in spite of that ubiquity, The Cut manages to stand above the maddening crowd — a realisation Team BH came to, almost unanimously, following lunch there earlier this week.

Hunter Street Hospitality’s premium chophouse concept has been on an extended hiatus since 2020, but lovers of beastly proteins will be glad to know that it remains down by The Rocks: in a wood-paneled, moodily lit subterranean location.

The scene speaks volumes about what’s on the menu; and while there are a range of perfectly satisfying diversions — a crudo of yellowfin tuna ($32) or the signature Gibson cocktail, garnished with a just-shucked Sydney Rock oyster ($35) — it would be ridiculous to stray from the house specialty. A 450g slab of monstrously decadent Prime Rib beef ($110).

Slow-cooked overnight and then sliced to order tableside, it’s the foundation of any serious ‘f**k you’ big luncheon. Throw in a Bombe Alaska ($19), and a couple of shots from the digestif trolley, and you’ll be smiling all the way home in a blissful meat-induced stupor.

St. Louis Says Moisture Repair Shampoo

We know: another cruelty-free shampoo, offering salon-like quality at accessible prices. So why are we bothering? Several reasons actually.

For starters, St. Louis Says is a homegrown affair: started by the same dudes behind Brisbane-based barbershop, Twin Palms.

Made without the addition of sulphate or parabens, every St. Louis Says haircare product is also vegan-friendly. Say, for instance, this ‘Moisture Repair’ shampoo: suitable for all hair types and formulated to combat excessively frizzy, knotty, or otherwise brittle hair.

As an added bonus: the brand’s e-store is laden with amusing copy. Like the line that touts the scent of this shampoo as one “formed in the rolling hills of Tuscany.” We don’t mind that one bit.

Salvatore Ferragamo ‘Hug’ tote bag

Creative Director Maximilian Davis continues to tap the kind of consistency and coherent creative direction that has seen critics commend him for bringing “a fresh spark” to the brand.

That desire, to instill a freer and more youthful sensibility in one of Italy’s great footwear houses, is crystalised in the ‘Hug’: a rebooted addition to the Ferragamo leather goods range, that embraces its moniker using thoughtful, ever-so-slightly winking design.

The bag’s rear panel is intentionally cut oversized and asymmetric, so it can be wrapped around the side fitted with clasps. The impression from afar is of two figures mid-embrace — a visual effect that is striking, without losing anything in the way of subtlety.

Westholme Wagyu Restaurant Series

In partnership with Applejack Hospitality, the cattle kings at Westholme Wagyu will be offering an array of ticketed events across the former’s portfolio of restaurants — all with the goal of heroing their sublime Northern Australian wagyu.

Using what they describe as a “nature-led” approach to raising, feeding, and slaughtering Wagyu cattle, the Westholme difference manifests itself in three distinctive eating experiences. That includes a highly decadent MBS9+ ‘pure’ breed; the versatile ‘Cross’ tailormade to work with a range of global flavours; and the terroir-forward ‘Grass’.

Enjoy all three, prepared in an array of different culinary styles, at three Applejack venues from now until mid-November. Tickets can be found here.
