Every week, Boss Hunting’s editors spend far too much time scouring the web: in search of the coolest gear, food & drink, and destinations worth trekking to across the globe.

In our latest edition of ‘Good Finds’, we’ve got a new oyster-themed gin from Sydney distiller Hickson House, Zegna’s versatile ‘Il Conte’ sportcoat, a primer for cured meats at home, and plenty more.

Zegna Oasi Cashmere ‘Il Conte’ Jacket

Zegna Il Conte
Pictured (left to right): Three of Zegna’s ‘Il Conte’ jackets, in black, army green and light grey.

Even as Australia descends into the fiery hellfire of summer, I find myself unable to shake the image of Zegna’s alluring new ‘Il Conte’ chore jacket.

One of the signature pieces in the Italian powerhouse’s FW24 campaign (modeled with rakish effortlessness by Mads Mikkelsen), this slice of tailoring pays tribute to none other than Count Ermenegildo Zegna himself — who founded the brand in 1910.

Artistic Director Alessandro Sartori has clearly reimagined the Count Zegna uniform for the 21st century. The result is a timeless design, somewhere between a chore and sportcoat, that’s as modular as it is elegant.

Clever, culturally amorphous details — I’m a big fan of the ‘guru’ collar — mean the ‘Il Conte’ will flatter discerning dressers in a variety of settings. Cut entirely in Zegna’s legendarily supple and sustainable Oasi Cashmere, this is a coat that demands to be lived in. Assuming money’s no object, of course.

Cathay Pacific Discount Codes For Your Next Eurotrip

Good Finds

Here at BH, if we’re going to dedicate an entire article to flight promotions/offers, the deal in question has to be properly spectacular. (Think ANA’s $2,700 business class fares, which my colleague Garry alerts everybody to at least twice per year.)

Still, there are plenty of small sweeteners being constantly thrown out by commercial carriers: particularly around this time of year — when seemingly half the population of Australia decamps to Western Europe.

In that vein, Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific is offering a bunch of discount codes across a range of travel classes (excepting first obviously) for Aussies flying to Paris, London, Milan, Madrid, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Zurich.

This promo runs until September 12, 2024. Simply apply the relevant code (as written below) when you’re searching for flights on the Cathay website:

  • E100AU for $100 off Economy class;
  • P200AU for $200 off Premium Economy class;
  • B400AU for $400 off Business class;

Quality Meats: The home guide to sausages, charcuterie, smoked meats & more

A tip-top reading recommendation from BH‘s Account Director Nick Mayor, this tome has been authored by Chef Luke Powell — of LP’s Quality Meats and Bella Brutta fame.

Described by The Bear‘s Matty Matheson as “the true vanguard of all things meats”, Powell’s new book is an essential how-to if you’re looking to master carnivorous prep at home.

Among other topics, Quality Meats teaches home cooks how to prepare their own sausages, charcuterie and smoked proteins and then goes the extra step by appending 90+ recipes that you can apply your newfound skill to. Yes Chef.

Le Labo Tubereuse 40

Le Labo Tubereuse 40

In almost all matters of perfumery, I tend to defer to my colleague Andrew Udovenya — BH‘s resident Account Manager.

This week in ‘Good Finds’, he’s teed up Tubereuse 40: the latest city exclusive from cult perfumer Le Labo, briefly available to purchase online until September 30, 2024 before reverting to a NYC-only situation.

Full of “light wood” tones and the lifted intensity of tuberose absolute, the experience of wearing it is reportedly accompanied by a “surprising ‘eau de cologne’ effect”. A scent that wears lightly, but with plenty of persistence? Sounds like a summer hero to us.

Hickson House Oyster Shell Gin

Hickson House Good Finds

Following last week’s Saison Vermouth plug, I thought I’d follow up with a similarly beverage maker: this time round, from Sydney gin distiller Hickson House. Set in the heart of The Rocks, the brand’s latest unveiling (timed for hotter sunnier weather) is this Oyster Shell gin.

Aussie distilleries have worked with the eponymous mollusk before, but Hickson House’s point of distinction is the use of Sydney Rock oysters — noted for their creaminess and slightly brined salinity.

Head Distiller Tim Stones says the goal was to craft a “sea-to-glass” gin. In that spirit (*chuckle*), we recommend sampling Hickson House Oyster Shell Gin in as minimal a serve as possible. This signature Gin & Tonic recipe is a great place to start.
