The Weeknd Is Offloading His Seductive LA Penthouse For $30 Million

As it turns out, the Los Angeles mansion The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) sold to Madonna last year wasn’t the only property he’d no longer have any use for – there’s also a penthouse. After closing the deal for his jaw-dropping $100 million Bel Air pad, the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer is now looking to unburden himself from this lavish sky dwelling located in the neighbourhood of Westwood. A lavish sky dwelling, it’s worth noting, which the everyday punter will take a single look at and immediately think: “Yep, this is precisely where a best-selling international R&B star who writes music about his sexual conquests should live.

Acquired two years ago for US$21 million / AU$29.2 million, in contrast to his celebrity peers, The Weeknd isn’t exactly in search of profit with his latest real estate play. At least not a hefty one (for someone in his tax bracket). Listed for just US$22.5 million / AU$31.2 million, although its sale at this price would still raise eyebrows and – as noted by several publications – shatter the record set by Matthew Perry’s Century City penthouse sale last year (US$21.6 million / AU$30 million), given:

  1. The prestige its location commands
  2. The novelty factor of its current owner
  3. And the luxury it showcases at every turn

… the US$1.5 million / AU$2 million difference is almost negligible.

Accessible via private elevator, The Weeknd penthouse crowns a high-rise dubbed Beverly West – one of the most exclusive buildings on the Wilshire corridor, spanning 22 storeys and featuring a grand total of 35 luxury condos. And just because Americans seems to have an aversion to subtlety, they’ve also gone ahead and named the top dog’s residence “The Mogul.” Lol.

Spanning an entire floor with approximately 8,000 square feet of living space, 360 jet-liner views of everywhere from Hollywood Hills, Bel Air, to Downtown LA and the Pacific Ocean courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as the world-class finishes. It’s like we said before: while no doubt stunning, every detail of this penthouse is rather unsurprising in the context of someone like The Weeknd.

“Views like this simply do not get much better,” notes the official listing.

“The boutique-style Beverly West offers exclusivity, privacy, security, and ultimate luxury.”

Featuring four exceedingly tasteful – albeit rather masculine – bedrooms and seven bathrooms including a primary suite that presents a jewel box steam shower, it’s unclear whether the high-end Italian furniture (or artworks housed in vitrines displayed throughout the joint) comes with the keys. In any case, at the very least, you definitely can expect:

  • A state-of-the-art chef’s kitchen designed by the famed Antonio Citterio
  • An entertainment bar w/ television wall comprised of four 65-inch flat screens
  • An expansive wraparound balcony terrace to admire the LA skyline
  • Climate-controlled wine vault
  • Private gym
  • Plenty of stone flooring
  • Plenty of room to entertain (one guest at a time like the Starboy himself, if you catch our drift, or multiple)

Beverly West’s most prominent shared amenities are its 24-hour concierge service, saltwater swimming pool, and a rooftop helipad. Necessary.

Angel Salvador of The Beverly Hills Estates is currently handling the listing – find out more below.
