Salesforce, the owner of Slack, has confirmed a partnership with OpenAI that will see the widely-discussed ChatGPT integrated into the ubiquitous business messaging platform.
As confirmed this week, businesses around the world will soon be able to use OpenAI’s generative AI technology within the Slack app. While use cases will obviously vary, considering the utility of ChatGPT is very broad, this partnership could represent a big change to how seamlessly workplaces communicate and collaborate. So far, it’s been confirmed that the AI technology will be available for Slack users to summarise conversation channels or threads, search for information about projects, draft messages and replies, and take notes.

There should be no question as to whether or not this will make workplaces more productive, taking out a lot of time consumption associated with Slack, especially for global businesses with multiple offices.
ChatGPT’s entrance into Slack will come with an in-app research portal to maximise the AI platform’s efficient research features, although it’s all still undergoing beta testing and has not yet been made available to the public. Those who are interested in the OpenAI Slack app can join a waitlist for the beta testing, but beyond that, there has been no indication as to when this integration will happen.
