  • The new Garmin Fenix 8 range features AMOLED and solar displays.
  • Prices for the AMOLED Fenix 8 model start at $1,699.
  • The 51mm solar Fenix 8 has a battery life of up to 48 days.

Announced last week, the latest iteration of Garmin’s premium multisport smartwatch range is ready to acquaint itself with your sweaty wrist. The Fenix 8 series comes packed with a few new features, but we feel the most notable (and noticeable) upgrade is its different displays.

You’ve got two options to pick from with these Fenix 8 models. One sports a bright AMOLED display while the other offers an always-on solar-charging lens.

As for sizing, the AMOLED Fenix 8 range is available in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm cases; with prices starting at $1,699. The solar powered versions, available in 47mm and 51mm sizes, are a hair pricier — starting at $1,849.

Like previous Fenix models, the watch’s battery life depends on the make: the bigger the model, the less frequently you’ll need to keep it charged. The 43mm AMOLED Fenix 8 offers up to 10 days, while the 51mm has up to 29 days.

According to Garmin, the 51mm solar model provides “50% more solar power than its predecessor” and, at full charge, can manage battery life of up to 48 days.

Apart from their displays and battery sizes, the two versions of the Fenix 8 share fairly similar features. Both watches come with a built-in LED flashlight, a 40m dive-rated case and advanced strength training, along with a microphone and an internal speaker.

Outside of these, the Fenix 8 range comes with improved versions of everything you’d expect from Garmin’s premium smartwatches. You’ll get constant health and wellness tracking, enchanted map navigation and a pretty broad range of activity profiles.

These profiles cover everything from cardio to golf and even pickleball, so you’ll be able to keep track of your performance regardless of how you prefer to keep busy.
