American-based bathroom ware company Kohler has made more than a few waves over the past few years, with a penchant for luxury high-tech products such as the $20,000 Stillness Bath, a voice-activated aromatherapy tub, and the Alexa-enabled Moxie showerhead with Harman Kardon speakers. For its latest attempt at elevating the art of going to the bathroom, Kohler has finally brought its long-touted Numi 2.0 Intelligent Toilet (henceforth referred to as the Kohler Alexa Toilet) to market.
Initially announced back at CES 2019, the Kohler Alexa Toilet took a few more years to ready but, as The Verge reports, it looks like the company is ready to start installing it in homes as of next year.
Priced at US$11,500 (~AU$17,193), Numi 2.0 doesn’t just come with a smart assistant built into its toilet seat but also features a range of LED lights and speakers just in case you need some sick bathroom bangers to mask any noise.
You’ve also got the standards set by the high-tech toilets of the Japanese company Toto, which travellers would instantly recognise if they’ve ever visited cities like Tokyo and Osaka.
That includes a bidet with UV lights for self-cleaning as well as controls to dial in the right temperature, pressure and position of the steam as it washes both your front and back bits.
That much is to be expected, but Kohler has taken the design more than a few steps forward to work towards that lofty price tag. The bowl can automatically deliver a layer of mist said to minimise any number two residue while there’s also auto-deodorising and, for some reason, an “emergency backup flush.”
Along with auto flushing and a heated seat that responds to your voice commands via Alexa or an included remote control, consider the Numi 2.0 an over-the-top solution to make your sh*t more seamless.
Kohler has made the Numi 2.0 Smart Toilet available to local distributors and reports suggest that direct sales will be available over the next couple of weeks.
