- Leica is the latest name to enter the home cinema projector market with the Cine Play 1.
- The Leica Cine Play 1 features a high-quality aluminium housing and delivers 4K resolution, 3,000 ANSI lumens, as well as Summicron lens and Leica Image Optimisation.
- It’s currently available in Australia for $5,990 (and $790 for the floorstand).
There have never been more options for building your dream home cinema, and overnight, Leica announced another 4K-resolution projector for your consideration with its Cine Play 1.
This isn’t the first time Leica has released a projector, with the pill-shaped Leica O1 Pro a few years ago and its maiden ultra-short-throw in the Leica Cine 1 Laser TV before that circa 2023. Now, the brand has stepped it up with a brighter projection, larger range of projection sizes (65 to 300 inches), as well as an undeniably attractive aluminium exterior.
The Cine Play 1 leverages triple RGB laser technology to ensure the 4K images are vibrant, while its 3,000 ANSI lumen potential promises projections will be clear and crisp even in bright rooms. The image quality is also thanks to the Summicron lens that’s built into the Cine Play 1 and the Leica Image Optimisation (LIOTM) technology.
Sound quality won’t be an issue either with DTS Virtual: X audio technology, carefully designed to simply connect to almost any media source. You’ll have options including Apple Airplay, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI, USB, and LAN.
Granted, the Cine Play 1 isn’t the most affordable home projector at $5,990 (add another $790 onto that if you want the floorstand to rest it upon), but if Leica’s history of manufacturing the world’s greatest cameras is anything to go by… it’ll be money well spent.
