Like clockwork, Samsung is just days away from releasing the Galaxy S23 FE (“Fan Edition”), which was announced earlier this week after the company ditched the FE tag for the previous generation.

Considering the Galaxy S23 lineup has been an easy success for Samsung, the mid-range Galaxy S23 FE should be another win for the brand as it offers an affordable flagship experience at $999.

Notably, the Galaxy S22 lineup never got a Fan Edition and it’s never been clear exactly why. I assume it’s because the Galaxy S22 Ultra had huge profit margins and sold so well that Samsung didn’t see the need to offer a more affordable version.

Regardless, it’s nice to see Samsung back with a genuine value proposition. The Galaxy S23 FE manages to balance price point with premium features like a 50MP high-resolution lens with 3X optical zoom, a massive 4,500mAh battery and a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.

You won’t find many phones at $999 with such a smooth refresh rate so that alone should be enough to perk any Android user’s interest.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE ahead of its Australian release date of October 12, 2023.

S23 FE Release Date & Price In Australia

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will be released in Australia on October 12th, 2023 with two options:

  • 128GB — $999
  • 256GB — $1,099

S23 FE Colours

Samsung has always placed great value on offering a wide variety of colourways to give users more design options. The S23 FE will come in the following colours.

  • Mint
  • Cream
  • Graphite
  • Purple Indigo
  • Tangerine

S23 FE Specs

Notably, the processor (or chipset) is the major difference between the FE and the higher-end flagship models. The S23 FE uses an EXYNOS 2200 chipset, which is the same as the Galaxy S22 series. This is in comparison to the much more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that is used in the S23 Ultra.

That said, the S22 series models were already quite powerful so the S23 FE is obviously geared towards Samsung users that haven’t upgraded in a few generations and want a good entry point to Samsung’s modern flagships without breaking the bank.
