The first one through the glass always gets cut. But the key advantage? There’s a prime opportunity to become synonymous with the eventual achievement(s). That’s basically what we’ve witnessed with Samsung and foldable devices over the past three years, and with the unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 alongside its slightly more fashionable younger sibling in Galaxy Z Flip 4 at Unpacked 2022 (August) — South Korea’s tech giant may now consider the message received: the future is foldable.

Granted, each of the aforementioned smartphones is largely the same as their respective predecessors, refined with an underlying philosophy of “perfecting upon perfection.” Regardless, both deserve your attention. And considering the price point is also identical to that of the last two years, anyone looking for an upgrade is getting quite the bargain. I mean… imagine copping a PlayStation 5 for the price of a PlayStation 3.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

As alluded to earlier, the evolution of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has been nothing short of remarkable to witness. The concept that dazzled, provoked doubts, before earning a place in the mainstream feels like it’s finally arrived.

At a glance, not only have all the kinks been ironed out, it’s never been a better time to get acquainted with this multitasking powerhouse. Optimised for the S Pen, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 brings big battery life, beefier processing, a finely-tuned camera, far sleeker form, and function in spades.

The standout feature is the Flex Model Panel, which is comparable to the static toolbar at the bottom of your PC. The ability to frictionlessly transition between apps is just one of several arguments for why the Fold could conceivably replace laptops.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

When Samsung initially dropped the Flip, everyone was asking, “Who is this for?” Now that the dust of nostalgia and gimmick has settled, the market is clearly defined: the TikTok generation.

With a more powerful camera, improved battery life, a smaller overall silhouette – while still upping the screen-to-phone ratio and weighing in a little heavier – plus an increase in the durability factor thanks to being wrapped in Corning Gorilla GlassVictus+, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is built for the young content creator on the go.

Back to the subject of camera, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 includes a few nifty additions like Quick Shot, which allows you to snap a pic while it’s folded by pressing the power key twice before tapping the screen (adjustable aspect ratio too); and Flex Cam, which allows you to record everything that’s going on around you as you’re seeing it.
