A few years ago, Aussie surf + dive fanatic David Hallamore launched the mini-SCUBA system dubbed SCORKL, effectively allowing you to stay underwater for 10 minutes without spending thousands on certifications and expensive equipment.

It was an instant hit for anyone who loved to spend time in the ocean and the offering has just gotten markedly better with the announcement of the SCORKL 2.0 Electric — a nifty contraption that recharges canisters anywhere in the world.

While the SCORKL is clearly a massive upgrade compared to the standard SCUBA diving systems, which require dozens of kilos of pricey kit, it was still limited by the sense that you needed to replenish your canisters with oxygen after 10 minutes under the surface.

Refilling the canisters with a hand pump is a time-consuming process, to say the least; a key problem the SCORKL 2.0 Electric seeks to solve with the option of an electric recharge achieved in just a couple of minutes.

The SCORKL 2.0 Electric draws from either a car or boat battery, as well as being compatible with typical 18v power tool batteries, so you’ll be able to juice up even when you’re in remote locations.

“Traditional SCUBA air compressors are prohibitively heavy and expensive, meaning they can only be stored and operated in dive stores or in a garage,” said SCORKL Creator & Founder David Hallamore.

“The SCORKL Electric Compressor, in stark contrast, is lightweight, inexpensive and portable. Not only can you plug it into the wall, but you can power it from a boat or car battery as well.”

The SCORKL starter pack with everything you need to get into the water starts from $858; while a 10-pack of SCORKL costs $3,121. Support the SCORKL 2.0 Electric Kickstarter below.
