Smart TV technology is only getting better and better, but despite the leaps forward it continues to take the simplicity and convenience of a projector remains compelling. One such example is the recently released XGIMI Magic Lamp projector, which is both a ceiling lamp for subtle cinematic lighting and a projector that can turn any space in your house into a media room.
Since its founding in 2013, the Chinese entertainment technology company XGIMI has released a number of sleek and practical home projectors that have enjoyed success. It’s latest Magic Lamp projector might be its best release to date, however, as a convenient projector that doesn’t need a flat surface to balance on and also boasts an in-built Harman Kardon sound system.
What’s best about the XGIMI Magic Lamp is the projector system that it has, which boasts an ability to shift up to 32° for super large angle when projecting onto a wall. This means that for a 100-inch projection, you’re able to move it up or down 1m in either direction, making it remarkable functional if you have a small room with cabinets or drawers against the wall. It’s only limiting factor is it’s maximum 1080p resolution and brightness of 900 ANSI lumens, which isn’t the best on the market and the tradeoff for the practicality of its ceiling fixture.

The XGIMI Magic Lamp solves a lot of the problems that typical projector owners currently face, both in terms of having an appropriate flat surface on which to set up the projector and the possible risk of a table height set up shining into the eyes of anyone who walks in front of it. In addition to it’s functioning as a ceiling light, the XGIMI Magic Lamp eliminates both of those issues.
This is the third generation of this kind of projector technology that XGIMI has released in recent years, first made available in Japan before introducing them into the larger Chinese market. The XGIMI Magic Lamp is due to launch in China later in 2023 with an RRP of US$1,170 (AU$1,695) with an international release date expected to be confirmed later this year.
