Every year, the World Photography Organisation and its partner Sony celebrate the very best photographers across the globe with the World Photography Awards, and in 2023, the winners haven’t disappointed.
With the competition split across a number of categories focusing, on different subjects, the winners receive a prize of US$25,000 (AU$37,274), Sony camera equipment, as well as a place in the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition and book.
This year, the competition received nearly half a million image submissions with categories ranging across Architecture, Creative, Landscape, Lifestyle, Motion, Natural World & Wildlife, Object, Portraiture, Street Photography, and Travel with around a dozen shortlist finalists selected in each category.
The World Photography Awards competition has run for the last 16 years and in 2023 attracted entrants from more than 200 different countries.
