Just days after a report surfaced suggesting the first-ever M3 wagon might be in the works, BMW has confirmed it via a literal โmic dropโ post on Instagram. Thatโs right guys, the BMW M3 Wagon (or Touring as itโs officially known) is coming to a school pickup zone near you.
โIn Garching, near Munich, home of the BMW M GmbH, work is being carried out on a further dream-come-true: for the first time in the history of the BMW M GmbH, the model range will be complemented by a BMW M3 Touring,โ said BMW in a follow up press release.
You can expect the M3 Wagon to have the same powerplant as the sedan version, which BMW outlined last month. Weโre talking a 500bhp turbocharged inline sixโฆwith a very good possibility of it getting a proper stick manual gearbox just like the sedan.
Thereโs no word exactly on when the new M3 Wagon will be released, but the guys at Top Gear think mid 2022 is a good guess. Whether or not itโll ever hit Australian shores is another story, but weโve got all our fingers (and toes) crossed.
Weโll keep you updated as more information comes to hand.
