Legendary fashion designer Giorgio Armani is stepping out from his usual arenas of fashion week runways and garment design studios, revealing plans for a collaboration with The Italian Sea Group (TISG) to create a golden 72m superyacht. Announced at the Marina di Carrara headquarters of the boatbuilder, the project will include two different designs to be built under the Admiral brand with the delivery of the first superyacht expected to take place at the beginning of next year.
“The sea and design are two of my greatest passions, said Giorgio Armani about the project. “With this new collaboration, I have extended my idea of furnishing and decor to the nautical world, in which – just as in fashion – aesthetics and functionality come together in a natural and elegant style,”
While we’re yet to see images of the finished superyacht, its significant volume will be balanced by softer curved shapes along its exterior with a luxurious interior with no expense spared, including marble floors with minimalist dark wood furnishings and gold accents. “This highly stimulating project has allowed me to create customised spaces with Armani/Casa – like made-to-measure clothing – with the same craftsmanship applied to the choice of materials, details and production.”
