The winners of the 2023 World Superyacht Awards were revealed on Sunday highlighting an unbelievable year of launches in the 30m plus realm. Specialist design and construction philosophies are judged across categories for displacement motor yachts, semi-displacement or planing motor yachts, and sailing yachts. From these, the overarching ‘Motor Yacht of the Year’ is then crowned. The winner of the illustrious title? Kenshō, a 74.85m built by Admiral – The Italian Sea Group.
Kenshō – Japanese for “seeing one’s true nature” reportedly won the Motor Yacht of the Year vote by a healthy margin because it reflected the true nature of its owner, who visited around 100 landmark vessels in search of inspiration for his dream build.
The seven-cabin masterpiece took 6 years to create and features a zen-like master retreat with four interconnecting rooms: a bedroom, a lounge/media, a dressing room, and a bathroom with a solid Carrara marble tub, all of which are inspired by Asian myth and modern craftsmanship.
All four decks are dedicated to guest accommodations allowing efficient interaction between crew and guests with large, calming volumes, and no main saloon.
“On most yachts, they use main deck side decks for crew access, but we concluded that these took up a huge amount of valuable real estate that could be used for guest cabins with fantastic views from large windows,” the owner tells Boat International.
Alongside fastidious design and construction elements that promote space and views – like the full beam main deck – Kenshō has been built to anticipate the future. A smart 2,850kW propulsion system earns the boat an eco classification and gives the vessel a 13-knot cruising speed. A class-approved battery room on the tank deck means she is already equipped to incorporate silent running batteries when the technology is 110% able.
Kenshō’s swim deck boasts a glass-fronted, 6m sea-level swimming pool and a gym while the swim platform is the perfect place to launch toys or relax on the ocean-facing sofas. A custom 9-metre limousine tender not only shares the mothership’s style and grace but also features an integrated beach ladder on the foredeck, perfect for exploring harder-to-reach coves and bays.
For those with deep pockets, Kenshō is available to enjoy via charter with Y.co for €850,000. Hit the link below. You can read more about the World Superyacht Awards at Boat International.
