  • Action Vehicle Engineering has produced a functional replica of the Nolan-verse Tumbler Batmobile with the official blessing of Warner Bros.
  • The ultimate collector’s item features everything from imitation gun turrets and smoke screen deployment to a simulated jet engine.
  • These replicas will only be limited to 10 examples with an asking price of US$3 million (AU$4.6 million).

Regardless of how you rate Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, the fandom can unanimously agree its depiction of the military-inspired Batmobile — dubbed the “Tumbler” — was nothing short of awesome.

Now, for the reasonable price of US$3 million (AU$4.6 million), you can own one.

Officially sanctioned by Warner Bros, the customisation dons at Action Vehicle Engineering have assembled 10 replicas using car, boat, and plane components to faithfully recreate the iconic silhouette.

This imposing two-seater weighs approximately 5,511 pounds (2,500kg) with a tubular aeronautical steel; and an exterior of Kevlar, carbon fibre, and sheet metal fibreglass.

Other noteworthy features (cosmetic or otherwise) include:

  • Imitation gun turrets
  • Smoke screen delivery system
  • Simulated jet engine (no flames)
  • Authentic left-hand drive interior complete with a digital performance dashboard
  • “Advanced software upgrades”
  • One-way mirrored glass screens
  • A/C

In terms of performance, under the hood, Action Vehicle Engineering’s Batmobile houses a 6.2-litre LS3 engine capable of generating 525 horsepower and 486Nm of torque; it’s mated to a GM 4L85E automatic transmission with paddle shift. All this can be stopped with its four-wheel power disc brakes.

And yes: it only comes in black.

The catch (aside from the seven-figure price tag) is that it isn’t street-legal. This means that outside of perhaps a flex-worthy track day, you’re essentially paying for a hulking display model.

But for those of you who are undeterred, you can apply for an allocation below (yes, this is an invitation-only deal). Action Vehicle Engineering’s replica Tumbler Batmobiles are expected to ship 15 months after a deposit has been put down.
