  • Aston Martin’s Vanquish returns to serial production in 2024.
  • The Vanquish’s new 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 will make it the “fastest series production car” currently offered by the British marque.
  • Standout design elements include the ‘Kamm Tail’ spoiler, teardrop silhouette and carbon fibre rear panel with ‘floating’ badging.
  • Pricing and availability in Australia TBA.

Few nameplates in Aston Martin’s history are as revered as the Vanquish. First introduced in 2001 and last seen in production back in 2018, the Vanquish was adored for designer Ian Callum’s seductive line work and monumental V12 potency.

For MY25, the halo model is making a dramatic comeback: as the tip of the sword for the British marque’s range of front-engined sports cars. As TopGear so bluntly put it, “someone clearly decided that simply body-kitting a DB12 and winding up the turbo boost wasn’t enough.”

Aston has taken the fight to Ferrari by introducing a new, far more potent V12 engine. This 5.2-litre twin-turbo produces a staggering 835PS and 1000Nm of torque, earning the Vanquish the badge of Aston Martin’s fastest series production car to date — with a top speed of 214mph (344km/h).

At first glance, the new Vanquish has some serious presence, at least in the scintillating cherry red launch paint and bronze wheel combination teased thus far.

The package is large, to say the least; a result of the new chassis extending the wheelbase by 80mm over its predecessor. The Vanquish’s teardrop silhouette and distinctive side strake are also making a welcome return, as do the flush door handles.

The real magic though, absent on any of the mass production wheels from Aston Martin recently, is at the rear. An abrupt ‘Kamm Tail’ with an integrated decklid spoiler provides aerodynamic balance front-to-back and is bookended by the same LED light styling first seen on the Valkyrie.

The seven brake light blades on each side are designed to be instantly recognisable in the dark as the Vanquish crawls the streets.

In the centre of this space is what Aston has dubbed the ‘shield.’ It’s essentially a carbon fibre panel designed to play an optical trick on the observer by making the brand’s name ‘float’ in the middle of the frame.

The other major technical highlight that has us particularly excited is the panoramic glass roof. Yes, you heard right: a panoramic glass roof on a coupe. Amazingly, this airy feature will come standard on the Vanquish. Its smart UV coating protects occupants from harmful A and B rays — also eliminating the need for a blind — raising the question as to whether the new Vanquish could be the sweet spot between a coupe and a convertible. That being said, there’s no doubt a ‘Volante’ drop top is already well and truly in the works for the model line.

Aston Martin’s refreshed (and very welcome) infotainment system, which made its debut on the DB12 is, of course, coming across to the Vanquish — sitting pretty within the new flight deck-style centre console. An exceptional 15-speaker audio package, by Bowers & Wilkins, also comes standard.

Limited to less than 1,000 production examples each year, the first Northern Hemisphere deliveries of Aston Martin’s new Vanquish are scheduled to begin at the end of 2024.

In Australia, the brand remains mum on pricing but we’ll have more on these details as they surface.
