We’ve all heard whispers of secretive private car collections squirrelled away in different corners of the world, containing some of the rarest and most valuable vehicles that rarely see the light of day (much less a public road). One such collection has recently pulled its covers off as it heads to auction, with The Aurora collection containing some of the most desirable Ferrari and Mercedes cars ever made announced to be sold off for a figure expected to hit $50 million.
In total, 14 cars will hit the auction block including a dozen Ferraris and a pair of Mercedes and will be sold via RM Sotheby’s upcoming Villa Erba sale in Italy. Featured vehicles ranging from 1955 all the way to 2019, tracing more than half a century of supercar design and development and the inarguable highlight being a rare 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta by Scaglietti that has an upper estimate of €8.5 million (AU$14.2 million).
Let’s take a look at a few of the Ferrari and Mercedes highlights from The Aurora Collection, with the full catalogue available to view here.
