German tuner Brabus has now made the bold claim that they have manufactured the world’s fastest street-legal SUV. Launched at the Monaco Yacht Show, Brabus revealed that the 900 Rocket Edition which transforms the already monstrous Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S 4Matic+ Coupe into the beast you see here.
Brabus has transformed many Mercedes-Benz vehicles into souped-up versions in the past, with this base vehicle being treated to the works. Complete with a carbon-fibre kit which consists of a chin spoiler and air intakes in the bumper, which itself sports an illuminated Rocket logo. Of course, the pièce de résistance with this bad boy is its larger-bore 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. Brabus has replaced the two factory turbos with their own units, while an active exhaust system works to wake the beast with a push of a button. With 662kW and 1,250Nm, the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition will lurch from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds. The electronic speed limiter kicks in at 330km/h and the car’s air suspension can be lowered for better control.
The colour scheme on the interior is a “Superior Gray” – as if being the fastest of its kind wasn’t superior enough – with red contrast stitching and trim pieces on the upholstery. The pedals, the door pins, and the paddle shifters are also in red. The seat center and the door panels are quilted and perforated, and the backlit Brabus logo is proudly on display on the stainless-steel scuff plates, in sync with the ambient light’s colour.
The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition will initially be sold in Germany with an asking price of €381,243 (AU$613,700), excluding taxes, and is limited to just 25 units.
