Taking a page out of fellow world champion, former rival, and Aston Martin F1 predecessor Sebastian Vettel’s book, Fernando Alonso has decided to sell his 2011 Ferrari Enzo “Socca n.1” (translation: Shell #1).
With an estimated sale price of €5 million ($AU8.2 million), this specific example of the coveted supercar has just 4,800 kilometres on the dash and represents one of 400 Ferrari Enzos ever produced for the public, period.
It also represents one of four Enzos ever owned by a Formula 1 driver who’s competed for the Italian marque – the others being ex-teammate Kimi Raikkonen, the great Michael Schumacher, and Vettel.
Like any standard Enzo, El Plan’s whip houses a 6.0-litre V12 engine capable of delivering up to 485kW and 657Nm to the rear wheels through a six-speed “automated manual” gearbox.
After winning two consecutive world championships with Renault (2005, 2006), Fernando Alonso was contracted by Scuderia Ferrari from 2010 to 2014. During his tenure in red, the Spaniard won:
- 11 races
- 1,190 points
- And finished second in the driver standings thrice (2010, 2012, 2013); each time behind Seb Vettel
As alluded to earlier, Vettel has also rid himself of his Prancing Horse collection in the years since driving for Scuderia Ferrari. More specifically, 1 x 1996 Ferrari F50, 1 x 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale, 1 x 2016 Ferrari LaFerrari, 1 x 2016 Ferrari F12 TDF, and of course, his own 2004 Ferrari Enzo.
The 2011 Ferrari Enzo of Fernando Alonso is scheduled to be sold on June 8th at the Monaco Car Auctions’ L’AstraRossa event (Monte Carlo).
