After Bugatti farewelled its final combustion engine Mistral (even taking it on a spectacular world tour), it’s time for another Italian supercar manufacturer to say goodbye to its own high-performance naturally-aspirated engine. We’re talking of course, about Lamborghini, which has announced a pair of final unique V12-powered supercars in the Invencible coupé and Auténtica roadster, which mark the end of an era for the iconic automaker.
The two supercars are the pinnacle of Lamborghini’s engineering and design DNA, with the Lamborghini Centro Stile design studio working directly with the final client to customise each vehicle into bespoke works of automotive art.
Each supercar features a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and full-carbon bodies to underscore their track-ready potential, as well as 3D-printed hexagonal air vents, instrument-free consoles and quintessential scissor-opening doors.
“The V12 engine is one of the pillars of our history and of the success of our brand,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO.
“And before we get into the full swing of Direzione Cor Tauri, we felt it was only right to celebrate the combustion V12 with two one-off cars that perfectly represent our concept of excellence in the sphere of customization.”
With a fitting tribute to the brand’s remarkable V12 engines offered, Lamborghini is now turning its full attention to the hybrid era that’s already underway.
