After quietly being discontinued at the end of last year, the time of the McLaren 720S as the automaker’s flagship car is in the rearview mirror and its replacement is expected to be revealed later this month. Exactly what that looks like is yet to be revealed, however, a source close to the car’s development has hinted at a more powerful iteration to sit between the existing Artura and 765LT models.
According to a source that spoke to Automotive News, the replacement for the previous generation McLaren 720S will offer customers a “perfect blend” of influences from the two supercars and is understood to host a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V-8 engine offering an extra 30hp. On the exterior, the yet-to-be-released McLaren will boast a larger rear wing and a redesigned front fascia and is expected to be available as both a coupé and spider.
In a separate interview with the same publication, Nicolas Brown, McLaren’s President Of The Americas, explained that customers are already queuing up for the unannounced supercar, stating clients “have started to put deposits down with dealers,” and the car is already sold out until mid-2024. Bad news for enthusiasts of the British marque who haven’t yet expressed interest, but then again, it could be worth waiting to see what you’re buying.
