  • Mercedes-Benz, Moncler, and KENZO’s NIGO have teamed up to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the legendary G-Wagen.
  • In addition to a one-off “art piece” revealed at Moncler’s City of Genius takeover in Shanghai, the collab has also spawned a limited production model.
  • This marks the second Mercedes x Moncler G-Wagen after the eye-popping Project Mondo G, the latter’s debut motor partnership, was revealed in all its puffer jacket glory last year.

For the G-Wagen’s 45th anniversary, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a one-off model created in collaboration with Moncler and KENZO creative director NIGO; alongside the “Past II Future” special edition production variant based on the aforementioned concept.

In terms of the former, the automotive art piece marries a restored two-door convertible from the 90s with the design flair of NIGO himself.

Aside from a soft top inspired by Moncler’s puffer jackets and two-tone exterior (olive green/grey with black and gold accents), this special edition G-Wagen showcases a reworked plaid interior, Devon Turnbull-designed “boom boxes” mounted on the roof linkages, and a colour-matched fuel cannister in gold.

The production model, on the other hand, is a touch more practical: a hardtop four-door based on the German marque’s latest G 450 d and G 500 SUVs, featuring a two-tone paint job of olive green and grey, with black exterior accents. Though inside, the treatment is no less stylish than what you’ll find on display.

Other notable aesthetic details include its own custom sound system; as well as “Past II Future” badging, engraved spare tyre cover, and black wheels.

Under the hood, customers have the option of either a 3.0-litre diesel engine capable of generating 270 kW and 750 Nm of torque (0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, 210 km/h top speed); or a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six rated for 330 kW and 560 Nm of torque (0-100 km/h in a slightly slower 5.4 seconds, same top speed).

Only 20 examples of this Mercedes-Benz x Moncler x NIGO collab will roll off the factory line. Deliveries are scheduled to begin sometime in April 2025.
