Michael Jordan, king amongst men, has added a brand new Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster to his fleet of royal chariots.
Given he’s rich enough to turn down $100 million for what was essentially two hours worth of work thanks to history’s most lucrative athlete sponsorship deal – something which recently recaptured mainstream attention with the release of Ben Affleck’s Air – the US$3 million (AU$4.5 million) price tag isn’t the most astonishing detail about this development.
It’s the hypercar’s beastly performance.

Housing a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre V8 engine that’s capable of producing 1,817 horsepower / 1,193 lb-ft of torque and mated to a seven-speed, single-clutch semi-automatic transmission, Hennessey claims this carbon fibre beauty can exceed 300 MPH (482 km/h) – making it “the world’s fastest and most powerful convertible.”
“We created the Venom F5 to be the ultimate expression of a hypercar,” Hennessey Performance CEO John Hennessey said via statement when it was first announced.
“Our 1,817 BHP ‘Fury’ engine screams behind the exposed cockpit, with its roar unobstructed by a roof – it is an unmatched automotive experience.”

As for the curb weight, we’re dealing with just under 3,100 pounds (1,405 kilos). Only 30 examples have ever been produced by Hennessey.
John Hennessey posted a picture of himself delivering the hypercar to His Airness at the latter’s exclusive Florida golf club Grove XXII with the following caption: “Today was a special day. Such an honor to build a special Venom F5 for a special friend.”
Based on this Instagram post, we know the Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster which Michael Jordan will soon be deleting some tyres with is glossy grey with yellow accents.
It almost goes without saying, but being both one of the greatest NBA players of all time and a legit billionaire certainly comes with a few perks.
