The dream of every humble man (and woman) is finally within reach. As of right now, you can rent a Porsche, from Porsche, and eat up your favourite stretches of local asphalt in one of Germany’s finest sports cars.
A ‘Porsche Drive Rental’ program is being trialled in Melbourne to begin with, and will allow anyone and everyone (bar a few parametres, which we’ll outline below) to take home either a 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera 4S, Taycan 4S or a 718 Boxster S – for a day, a weekend, or even an entire week.
The cost of a 24-hour loan of a 911, for example, is a very appropriate sum of $911, and the rental fees for the remaining cars in the lineup drop from there.
This fee is actually pretty compelling on its own accord, and that’s before you consider the complimentary inclusions of a second driver, a set mileage limit, and even tolls. Doing some simple maths will soon have you realising that you can drive a 911 once a fortnight for a whole year in return for a modest sum of just under $24,000. Far less than the $300,000-odd dollars you’d have to part ways with to own the vehicle outright.

Of course, the fun police (hopefully not actual police) get involved in all the details, which include a minimum rental age of 27-years-old, the requirement to hold a full license for a minimum of 5 years, and a pre-authorised $6,000 credit card deposit to be supplied at collection.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’d be like to tackle Lake Mountain Road or go for a weekend squirt to Torquay and back with 330kW under foot – wonder no more. Book at the link below.
