Like Bugatti and Lamborghini, the time has come for Rolls-Royce to announce its last combustion engine-powered supercar, which they revealed will be the Black Badge Wraith (Black Arrow edition), limited to just 12 vehicles. “Why 12?” you might ask. The answer lies beneath the bonnet, where the final V12 engine from the venerable marque is housed.
With full electrification around the corner for the British automaker, it only makes sense to send the final gas guzzlers off with a bang and what a bang this Black Badge Wraith provides: wearing a gradient paint job that reportedly required a year and a half of development, 12 hours of polishing to achieve its sparkling sheen, and fades gently from “celebration silver” at the nose to “black diamond” bringing up the rear.
The interior is suitably and equally spectacular, boasting a record-setting 2,117 fibre-optic lights integrated directly into the ceiling, while the door panels are a marquetry work of art comprising 320 individual panels of wood veneer that offer some contrast to the yellow highlights found throughout.
“Wraith is one of the most significant and influential cars we have ever made at Goodwood,” explained Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Torsten Müller-Ötvös.
“Its extraordinary power, performance and presence opened the Rolls-Royce brand to an entirely new group of clients.”
As you’d hope to see in such a spectacular hand-crafted vehicle, each engine will be mounted with a plaque that reads “Final Coupé Collection.” All 12 have already been sold.
