Set to arrive on Australian shores next month, the new Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition is a slam-dunk from the Japanese automaker that brings a touch of retro-inspired class to the incredibly popular off-road family. While the automatic Jimny is sold out around the country because of how well-loved it is, the Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition takes its cues from Suzuki’s storied 4×4 history and will be based on the top-tier Jimny GLX manual.
Only 300 units of the throwback-inspired off-roader will be coming down under, exclusively with a manual transmission, and will cost an extra $1,500 that gives you mudflaps, epic racing strip decals and a Jimny Heritage cargo tray. Aside from those cosmetic additions, the Heritage Jimny will be much the same as the GLX manual, including the naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (which puts out 75kW/130Nm), satellite navigation equipped 7.0-inch infotainment display LED headlights and more. Unfortunately, it won’t be fitted with a tape deck.
Even though the number of examples arriving Down Under is small, you’ll be able to pick from three of the four colour options that are available with the Heritage Edition, including Jungle Green, Medium Grey and White, while the Bluish Black Pearl colour is already sold out. It’s a great new release from Suzuki, which perfectly builds on the go-anywhere, do-anything feel offered by the standard edition of the compact 4×4 and takes you back to a time when all you needed for an adventure was four wheels, a swag and some jerry cans of water.
