If you’ve been considering the move to an EV this year, there’s plenty about the newly revealed 2025 Tesla Model Y that makes it worth considering. As one of the most popular electric EVs on the market right now, this year’s Model Y arrives first as the Launch Series edition with a long-awaited overhaul of its design with improvements to its range and performance.
Understood to be codenamed “Juniper”, the exterior of the 2025 Model Y has been updated to feature split headlights and a rear light bar, a flatter bonnet for improved aerodynamics, and a sporty front bumper that appears to be inspired by the Model 3 Performance. It also arrives with daytime-running lights, redesigned mirrors, and 19-inch “Crossflow” and 20-inch “Helix 2.0” alloy wheels.

Inside the five-seater, you’ll find a larger 15.4-inch touchscreen that’s brighter than previous models, while the steering column has been redesigned with the gear selector moved to the touchscreen. In line with the rest of the Tesla line-up, the infotainment system will not arrive with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but there is an 8-inch touchscreen that’s been added for the rear passengers.
As far as the battery and powertrain, the 2025 Model Y appears to retain the same battery pack as previous years — 60kWh for the rear-wheel drive and approximately 79kWh for the Long Range. However, there have been improvements made to the performance of both the RWD and the Long Range, now capable of 5.9 seconds and 4.3 seconds sprint times respectively, with a top speed of 201km/h for both.
With solid improvements across the board, the 2025 Tesla Model Y is currently available for pre-order, with deliveries slated for May of this year. The RWD version has an Australian RRP of $63,400 ($7,500 more expensive than the current model) and the Long Range version will cost $73,400 ($3,500 more expensive), both plus on-road costs.
