Cake is a well-known quantity within the world of electrified motorbikes and mopeds, with the Cake Kalk& dirtbike earning a cult following thanks to its aggressive and utilitarian design. Now, Cake is back for a second collaboration with the electric car specialist Polestar, launching the Makka Edition 2 electric moped that looks ripped from a utopian future.

The debut collaboration between Cake and Polestar dropped in 2021 when the two EV players linked up for a snow-white Cake Makka Polestar edition, designed in Cake’s signature pared-back style. A year later, the two are back again with a second edition that offers a similar overall design package, but this time executed in a subtle sky-blue tone.

Designed to be an ideal urban explorer, the Cake Makka Polestar Edition 2 aims to offer its owner as much versatility as possible, with options for detachable cargo mounts, surfboard racks and even a child seat for the primary school drop-off. Constructed from lightweight aluminium, The e-moped is built from lightweight aluminium that sees the entire bike weighing just 70kgs, ensuring an impressive power-to-weight ratio thanks to the interior permanent magnet motor that delivers 1,55kW of nominal power and 60Nm of torque to the wheels.

The street-legal powertrain draws from a 31Ah / 1.5kWh battery with a total of 18650 lithium cells, which takes approximately two hours of charging to reach 80% and three hours for a full charge. Boasting a top speed of 45km/h, you can expect to get around 54km of riding in the city or urban areas from a full charge.

It’s one of the coolest releases from Cake in a little while and an exciting one thanks to the partnership with Polestar, hopefully setting the scene for further editions to be released in the years to come. The Cake Makka Polestar Edition 2 is currently available for preorder, with an RRP of US$5,300 (AU$7,894).
