A little less than a year ago, INEOS Automotive announced their all-electric off-roader would be ready by 2026. Now, the British automaker has finally confirmed what to expect from its all-new INEOS Fusilier.
The grand reveal in London follows the company’s ambitious declaration in May 2022: to introduce a zero-emissions model line, marking a significant leap forward in its commitment to environmental sustainability. Spearheaded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, this new off-road vehicle is poised to redefine the standards of off-road prowess without sacrificing the comfort and performance expected on the road.
In a committed move to a greener future, INEOS Automotive has confirmed that the Fusilier will be available in all-electric and low-emission, extended-range electric variants. The latter integrates a compact petrol engine with a generator, designed to recharge the battery when external charging options are unavailable, and offers a practical solution to range anxiety and charging infrastructure limitations.

This strategic development ensures that the Fusilier caters to a wide spectrum of driver preferences while aligning with sustainability goals. The unveiling also sets the stage for further details regarding these alternative powertrains — expected to be disclosed by autumn 2024.
INEOS’s partner in the production of the Fusilier is the Austrian-based automotive manufacturing experts at Magna, set to be instrumental in bringing the electric Fusilier to life. With slightly more compact dimensions than its predecessor, the Fusilier is engineered on a bespoke “skateboard” platform with a steel top hat and underbody; while the doors and closures will be aluminium for power efficiency.
It’s an exciting project from the folks at INEOS, blending a vintage Defender aesthetic with modern powertrain technology. While the electric Ineos Fusilier will arrive in 2026, it’s not yet confirmed whether Aussie customers will be able to get their hands on it/what the projected retail pricing will be.
