Legendary British automotive outfit McLaren have crossed over to the two-wheeled world with California-based bike manufacturer Specialized to produce this $11,500 USD ($14,300 AUD) bicycle.
Celebrating McLaren’s 50 years of Grand Prix racing, the bespoke bicycle manufacturers pay homage to the milestone with a variety of subtle nods to the golden days of McLaren. The iconic papaya hue shade of the bike, dubbed by Specialized as Heritage Orange, is the same colour the racing team painted their cars way back since the beginning in 1966.
Specialized have brought their own carbon fibre to the table, as well as a Dura Ace Di2 system from Shimano. The Roval CLZ 32 wheels spin on sparkling polished hubs that mimic the silver wheels from the manufacturer’s race years and the bike’s leather bar tape feature McLaren orange stitching.
