This beast might be the closest thing you’ll get to a Brabus down under. The Mercedes-Benz X-Class EXY Extreme by Pickup Design studios revamps the luxury design from the German automaker into something you’d expect in the next Fast & Furious.
The EXY Extreme is available in Australia from around $49,000, but that’s not including the original X-Class to modify. If you’re thinking that’s a little steep, that’s because it bloody well is.
So what exactly does one get for the cost of most new cars? A Pedders suspension lift kit, for starters, which jacks up the vehicle by an extra 30 mm. Passengers can use the added metal side steps to enter the jacked up 4X4 if they wish.
18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Black Bear mud-terrain or all-terrain off-road tyres boast a wider track to match the beefy wheel-arch extensions. Buyers will also cop a hardened front bash plate, bonnet lip, headlight frames and LED light bar to round out a super aggressive front end.
Inside, Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery is peppered throughout, a product of Polish interior outfitters Carlex Design.
Interestingly, a special V8 exhaust sound system optimised to give the impression of a tougher, louder ute, can be fitted as optional, but there are no changes to the mechanics of the 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine.
