Miles Davis is the definition of a music legend. Responsible for some of the greatest jazz records of all time – A Kind Of Blue remains the best selling album of the genre – and the winner of 32 Grammys, Davis revolutionised jazz during his five-decade career.
What many aren’t aware of is Davis’s passion for cars prior to his passing in 1991. He owned a number of exotic automobiles and just last week his prized Ferrari 308 GTSi was sold at auction by the Beverly Hills Car Club. While it’s unsure how much the Ferrari went for exactly, the reserve price of US$70,000 was beaten by one lucky car enthusiast who now owns a piece of motoring and music history.
Although not the most popular Ferrari, Davis’ 308 GTSi comes with chocolate brown interior and an immaculate canary yellow paint job. The car comes equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, power windows and includes a spare tire, tool kit and jack. The Ferrari is in brilliant condition and has done less than 10,000 miles.
The purchase also comes with proof of provenance, with part of the proceeds of the sale going to The Grammy Museum. Check out the Davis’ ride below.
