The strong bond between the former US President and current Canadian Prime Minister shows no signs of slowing. As Trump’s actions further distance the US political agenda from their northern neighbours, it’s his predecessor Barack Obama who is keeping the relationship alive.
Trump and Trudeau haven’t quite emulated the spark held by the former President and his Canadian counterpart. Anti-trade, along with more recent climate change policies, indicate this isn’t about to change.
Obama may no longer have a pad at the White House but that doesn’t mean his role is over. After giving a speech to the Montreal Board of Trade, Obama and Trudeau met for a candle-lit dinner; on the menu “their shared commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.”
The two exited the popular Montreal seafood establishment to find a crowd of hundreds cheering at them from across the road.
