44 years ago, a man by the name of Otis Johnson was was sent to prison for attempted murder at the tender age of 25. Almost half a century later he was released into a world that is very different from the one he left.
In a video produced by Al Jazeera, Johnson visited Times Square and was blown away by what he saw around him. Pedestrians “with wires in their ears looking like CIA agents”, flashing lights and cars everywhere, and just a hugely futuristic world in general.
Johnson offers us a unique perspective on how much the world has evolved over the last few years, a world that many just take for granted.
As Ferris Bueller once said, “life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
