Southampton striker Shane Long has just scored the fastest goal in Premier League history when he netted after 7.69 seconds in Tuesday’s draw at Watford, reports the BBC.
Long intercepted Craig Cathcart’s clearance soon after the Hornets kicked off before lifting the ball over goalkeeper Ben Foster.
“The manager said to make a quick start and put them under pressure,” Long said. “It’s a nice record to have.”
Shane Long broke a 19-year record held by Tottenham defender Ledley King, who scored after 9.82 seconds against Bradford in December 2000. You can watch the madness below.
