You should all know by now that the Socceroos bested Denmark just a few days ago with a 1-0 victory, sliding through to the round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Staggeringly loud celebrations in Australia went viral (as they should), and currently, fans are beside themselves with joy for the Socceroos’ first chance at World Cup glory since 2006. World Cup live screenings are obviously going to be popping up around Australia much more frequently now that the Socceroos are in with a chance so we’ve rounded up venues that are screening Australia vs Argentina live this Sunday.
Next up is the Socceroos’ World Cup clash with Argentina, their first time in 16 years on the knockout stage. Needless to say, the atmosphere at these public live screenings will be worth waking up early (or staying up all night on Saturday) for.
To keep things nice and tight, here’s a full working list of all the live screenings being planned across Australia. If we’ve missed any, feel free to give us a buzz on our social media channels and we’ll chuck ’em in.
Besides a record win for our boys, we’d also be rooting – so it seems – for another national public holiday. PM Anthony Albanese has gone on official record (AKA Twitter) to respond to requests for a public holiday as the country celebrates making it through the group stage.
“Too late to call a national holiday after the Socceroos’ huge win against Denmark last night,” he tweeted the day after the match,
“But if we win the #FIFAWorldCup… that might be a different story.”

Where To Watch Australia v Argentina Live In Sydney
Note that the government will be providing free public transport across Sydney on Sunday, December 4 from 4 AM to 12 PM to allow everyone to get to these World Cup live screenings.
Sydney’s major live screening will be at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour for Australia’s round of 16 clash. The site will open for punters on Sunday at 5:30 AM ahead of the 6 AM kickoff and it will be a dry event, so no alcohol. You won’t need a ticket to enter, just rock up. Retailers around the Darling Harbour area are also being encouraged to open early to cater to fans.
So far we know that there will be food trucks from 5 AM offering everything from American breakfast burgers and donuts to Greek loaded fries and souvlaki. Venues opening early from 5 AM include Betty’s Burgers, Gelatissimo, Chatime and Goobne. Not the healthiest, but fuel nonetheless to keep you all going if you want to witness World Cup history unfold on Sunday morning.
In addition, the Sydney Opera House sails will be lit up from Saturday evening, shining with green and gold from 8 PM until dawn in support of Australia’s national team and as a nod to all the football fans in the country.
Other venues include Enmore Park in Marrickville and, surprisingly, The Ritz Cinema in Randwick for those who want to sit down in a cinema to watch to Australia game.

Where To Watch Australia v Argentina Live In Melbourne
Melbourne’s major screening will most likely be Federation Square once again so thousands can watch Australia take on Argentina. Footage of punters celebrating at the live site went viral after Australia bested Denmark a few days ago, so you already know that atmosphere is going to be just right.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews has suggested that more major live sites will open beyond just the World Cup screening at Fed Square but details are yet to be confirmed. And there has since been a few pop-up on the radar, otherwise, you’ll have to make do with venues or switch to the appropriate TV channel at home.
