Renowned for its sumptuous casualwear staples and cashmere spun in Solomeo, Brunello Cucinelli is once again teaming with Mr Porter for the release of an exclusive capsule collection: 41 articles of clothing, footwear, and accessories woven loosely around the theme of ‘Unexpected Elegance’.

In textbook fashion, that means an array of pieces crafted with Cucinelli’s carefully honed balance of craft and meditative design. The sensation mightn’t be evident from a distance, but when wearing pieces like the capsule’s down-filled gilet or a cardigan knit in virgin ‘Donegal’ wool, you can’t help but revel in the sensation of unbridled (verging on out-of-body) comfort – a quality that is synonymous with the world of Brunello Cucinelli.

The abundance of knitwear and softly constructed designs have been conceived with transitional weather in mind – a climate that lends itself to the classic Cucinelli colour wheel. Dominated by delicate tonal shades in camel, slate, eggshell blue and white, these are clothes that assume a certain serenity of climes: so much the better when worn standing in front of a roaring ancestral hearth or amid the upholstery of some beautifully restored grand tourer.

Going beyond the familiar pasture of refined sportswear (in the vein of shearling jackets and sweaters woven out of Mongolian cashmere) the ‘Unexpected Elegance’ capsule offers a range of leather goods and accessories – all of which continue to embrace Cucinelli’s well-known popularity with a certain class of elite traveller.

The brand’s signature cashmere-silk baseball caps – incomprehensibly expensive and popular every season – are complemented by bigger signature pieces like two suede daily bags: one, a dashing overnight duffle; the other, a rucksack-style backpack capable of securing up to 22 litres of essentials.

The latest collaboration between two powerhouses of the men’s clothing industry might be accused of rehashing old ground, but devotees of stealthy power dressing are guaranteed to find more of what they (already) enjoy. With this exclusive capsule, Mr Porter continues to deepen its lucrative relationship with Brunello Cucinelli – expect the latter’s own-label Spring/Summer 2023 collection to arrive later this November.
