Within the realm of fashion, Australia seldom receives an exclusive anything from global brands. But New Balance is seeking to remedy that with the Distilled fragrance that — yes — actually captures that fresh sneaker smell.
Available in two scents, ‘Original’ and ‘Court,’ this partnership with Aussie scent imprint Perfume Playground will be available to the first 100 customers of Sydney’s New Balance Grey Store, which only recently opened in The Galeries.
‘Original’ is apparently comprised of leather, rubber, and suede notes with hints of “cotton socks” and “freshly mowed grass” a la dad kicks.

‘Court,’ on the other hand, is a more lively variation featuring Australian sandalwood, Australian White Cypress, patchouli, and juniper berry wild Tyrol essential oil; with basketball rubber and hardwood floor notes.
“New Balance’s Distilled fragrances are uniquely versatile,” Perfume Playground founder Samantha Copland told Body + Soul. “They can be sprayed on shoes to keep them fresh, but also smell beautiful when worn on the skin.”
By all accounts, a New Balance fragrance might be the Christmas stocking stuffer you were looking for.
