Three-way collaborations can sometimes miss the mark, but when you see KITH founder Ronnie Fieg’s name attached to pretty much anything, you know you’re in for a treat. The enterprising founder’s latest project is the trio of adidas x Ronnie Fieg x Clarks’ Originals 8th Street Samba sneakers that fuse the classic thick-cut Clarks Originals sole unit with the distinctive adidas Samba silhouette to great effect.
This isn’t the first time that Fieg has linked up with either Clarks or adidas, but it is the debut partnership between all three parties following a teaser post to Twitter where Fieg shared the classic Clarks hang tags emblazoned with all three logos. Eagle-eyed sneakerheads might have spotted a few conspicuously thick-soled Sambas in the KITH Spring 2023 lookbook. Now we get a proper look at the collection, which has been made available in white, black and beige colourways.
The collaborators aren’t reinventing the wheel here. They’re combining two classic staples in the footwear world very nicely indeed as the thick crepe soles find their way onto the bottom of the legendary Samba shape, adding some volume to their typically quite flat and narrow visual impression. Executed in three classic colourways that’ll work with pretty much any outfit you’d be happy leaving the house in, there’s a whole lot to love in this new collaboration.
The adidas x Ronnie Fieg x Clarks Originals 8th Street Samba sneakers will be available from the KITH online store from the 24th of March, with prices still to be confirmed.
